FEATURES

We aim to train talent who will be involved in the design of information systems that are the foundation of modern society.
Specifically, students will learn a wide range of subjects, from basic mathematics and data science, systems engineering with a focus on information and communication engineering, to media engineering with a focus on sensitivity, sound, and images, in order to become engineers and creators who can create things and experiences that are kind to people.

Currently, these are intricately intertwined, giving rise to a wide variety of occupations. Furthermore, there are "makers" and "users" of these. We will nurture creators and bearers of information that is friendly to everyone in every aspect.

    By starting their practical training in their first year, students will be able to understand what they are interested in and what they should focus on in their studies. For example, in their first year, students will make a proposal to a major manufacturer that is trying to create a systemized toothbrush (the judges and commentators will also be from the manufacturer). They will use the sense of accomplishment and reflection they gain from this to gain real-world experience in their second, third, and fourth years, changing the theme each year.

    In the fourth year, students will work on their graduation research. For example, they will solve real problems in collaboration with actual companies and organizations, such as nursery schools and car repair companies. Some projects will last several years, and will contribute to society as they are passed down from senior students to junior students. The employment rate of the seniors from the faculty that was the basis for the reorganization of this faculty is high, and they work in a wide range of fields.

    幅広い分野に役立つITの技術や発想を
    実践的に深める毎日が楽しい!

    1年次はC言語、2年次はJava、Pythonなど、複数のプログラミング言語を習得。ゲームの作成など、様々な課題を通じて専門知識と技術を磨いています。自分で考え、コンピュータに実行させるコードを書き、指示通りに動くか試す。何度も試行錯誤を重ね、思い通りに動いた時の達成感は大きいです。

    「フィールドプラクティス」の授業で、介護現場の情報化についてアイデアを出し合った経験から、介護施設向けのシステム構築にも興味が出てきました。最初はゲームから興味を持ちましたが、将来は幅広い分野に目を向け、システム設計や開発に携わるエンジニアとして、たくさんの人々や社会に貢献していきたいです。

    この学科には、Web作成、ゲーム製作、組込みシステムなど、幅広い学びに取り組める環境が整っています。教科書や資料に沿って進んでいくため、ゲームやITに興味や関心があれば、未経験の人でも安心です。

Through visits and experiences at various sites, students learn about the usage, needs, and problems of information technology in society, and improve their problem-finding and problem-solving skills. Creating materials and presenting them to a large audience is a big challenge in the first year. This experience will allow students to learn effectively from the second year onwards.
Learn the basics of programming step by step.

In order to make the system or AI behave as desired and respond to various cases, you must first learn logical thinking and expression skills so that you can give logical instructions in Japanese. Then you move on to programming languages...even those with a liberal arts background can gradually understand.

The School of Information Design has hundreds of computers for practical use and practical rooms for various purposes. Students can take advantage of these to thoroughly study programming. Each student has different difficulties. Teachers will provide thorough guidance.
Implementing information systems construction.
[Information Systems Application Exercise]
In large classrooms that can accommodate dozens of people at a time, students can watch what others are doing and support each other while they learn. There is also space for self-study outside of class hours, so students can review at their own pace.

There are many types of digital content, including games, music, movies, manga, characters, etc. You will learn through practice from the basics to advanced applications so that you can communicate optimally according to your purpose.
We also conduct joint development with companies and organizations!

The photo shows a face recognition system proposed at a nursery school. In this way, students often develop things that are actually used by companies and organizations, allowing them to gain very concrete experience that will help them succeed after graduation.


1st year
Develop problem-finding skills through "field practice."
With the cooperation of companies and organizations, we think about what the problem is and what can be done to solve it, and propose solutions. From the second year onwards, you will be able to see where you should focus your studies. Basic education is also provided. Even those with a liberal arts background can steadily learn through peer support from seniors and teaching assistants.
2nd year
Pursue the learning that interests you.
Building on the foundations of information design, such as content and networks, students will gradually shift their focus to learning that interests them. The level of practical problem-solving in the real world will also continue to improve. Students will work together, utilizing each other's strengths.
3rd year
Students deepen their expertise through practical exercises and begin full-scale career education.
In the third year, students will begin to study and work in earnest to prepare for job hunting. We also support students in preparing for summer internships, which are the actual recruiting activities. In the fourth year, students will connect their learning to their future fields. Of course, students will also begin to study in earnest, taking "Information Systems Application Exercises" and "Information Design Seminars."
4th year
Acquiring problem-solving skills through graduation research.
Many laboratories collaborate with external companies and organizations in joint research and development, allowing you to work on practical information design and information systems development in the field of your choice.

    The Faculty of Information Design aims to train talent who can be involved in the design of information systems that form the foundation of modern society, based on the belief that "creating things and experiences that are friendly to people" will promote empathy and mutual understanding among people and make society a safer and more secure place.

    Specifically, information system design has two aspects: design for "creation" and design for "use," and it is necessary to understand both aspects, especially for "people-friendly" information systems. In design for "creation," students incorporate techniques to understand users, learn primarily about information and communication technology, and train engineers involved in the design, construction, and operation of information systems, while in design for "use," students learn basic information and communication technology, then learn media technology that people use from systems and techniques to understand users, with the goal of training personnel who can propose and utilize people-friendly information systems.
